Hello everyone!

Today’s entry is a project with a beautiful stamp. I’ve been stamping it with different inks, markers, watercolor, I’ve been experimenting with paper and color. The stamp is so pretty that I had fun mixing and trying a few techniques.

La entrada de hoy es un proyecto con un hermoso sello. Lo he estado utilizando con diferentes tintas, marcadores, acuarela, he estado experimentando con papeles y colores. El sello es tan bonito que me divertí mezclando y probando varias técnicas.

I made a set of 4 cards using a different color of embossing powder for each one. 

Hice un conjunto de 4 tarjetas con un color diferente de polvo de embossing para cada una.

 

I prepared my watercolor paper for heat embossing, which requires an antistatic powder tool to prevent the powder from sticking to unwanted areas.

Then I inked the stamp with versamark Ink and stamp it. I used a stamp positioner so I could inked it twice, because watercolor paper has a bit of a texture and sometimes stamping it once doesn’t give the best impression.

Preparé mi papel de acuarela para el embossing, que requiere una herramienta de polvo antiestático para evitar que el polvo se adhiera a áreas no deseadas.

Luego entinté el sello con versamark Ink y lo sellé. Utilicé un posicionador de sellos para poder sellarlo dos veces, porque el papel de acuarela tiene un poco de textura y, a veces, estamparlo una vez no da la mejor impresión.

Then added the embossing powder and used a dry brush to get rid of any stray powder.

Then I let my heat tool warm up for a few seconds and melted the powder moving the heating tool around and on both sides of the paper to minimise warping. I love this step, it’s like magic seeing that powder melt and becoming a beautiful image. 

I did the same process for the sentiments, I stamped several messages so I could pick the ones I liked the most, and also have some left over to use on other projects. I like doing this because it saves time and paper.

Luego agregué el polvo de embossing y utilicé un pincel seco para eliminar cualquier polvo perdido por ahí.

Luego dejé que la herramienta de calor se calentara durante unos segundos y derretí el polvo moviendo la herramienta hacia ambos lados del papel para minimizar la deformación. Me encanta este paso, es como magia ver que el polvo se derrite y se convertir en una imagen hermosa y brillante.

Hice el mismo proceso para los mensajes, sellé varios mensajes para poder elegir los que más me gustaban y también para que me sobraran para usar en otros proyectos. Me gusta hacer esto porque ahorra tiempo y papel.

Then the fun part begins!!!! Smooshing color!!! On a slick surface I put on Distress Inks and sprayed some water then “smooch” my panels against the wet ink. I added a few layers. Then I got a brush and color with the same Distress Inks some parts of the stamped girl and flowers, specially flowers and leaves.

After everything was dried I die cut a frame and adhere the centre portion and the frame to a notecard.

¡Aquí comienza la parte divertida! Smooshing color! Sobre una superficie no porosa, puse tintas Distress, rocié un poco de agua y luego "smooch" mis paneles contra la tinta húmeda. Hice varias capas de esta manera. Luego con un pincel y las mismas tintas con agua pinté partes de la imagen, sobretodo flores y hojas.

Después que todo se secó, corté un marco y adhierí la parte central y el marco a una base de tarjeta.

Summer Mini Album with video

I made a quick mini album, I wanted to scrapbook but I didn't want to spend so much time on it, I wanted to see the result right away.

Hice un mini álbum rápidamente, tenía ganas de scrapear pero no quería pasar mucho tiempo en ello y quería ver el producto terminado en el momento.

So I decided to use a 12" x 12" patterned paper as the album base, that would fold into itself. I made a mini sketch and cut it out to have a better idea how the album was going to fold and where I needed to cut it.

Así que decidí usar un papel estampado de 12" x 12" como base, que se doblaría para hacer las páginas. Hice un pequeño boceto y lo recorté para hacerme mejor idea de cómo se iba a doblar y por donde tenía que cortar.

The only complicated part was adding a "spine" to the sides of the album, it needs some room in order to close properly. So I scored the paper at 4" and 8" on both sides, leaving me with 9 perfect squares. Then I had to score another line right next to the ones I had done towards the outside, in other words, I scored the paper at 3 7/8", 4", 8", 8 1/8", then turned the paper 90º and repeated the same score lines. 

La única parte complicada del álbum era "el lomo" en los lados, se necesita un poco de espacio para que pueda cerrar correctamente. Así que marqué los pliegues a 4" y 8" en ambos lados, lo que me dejó 9 cuadrados perfectos. Luego tuve que marcar otras líneas muy cerquita de las que ya había hecho por el lado externo, en otras palabras, hice marcas para pliegues en 3 7/8", 4", 8", 8 1/8", luego giré el papel 90º y repetí esas mismas marcas.

I used a paper pack by We Are Memory Keepers, it´s an old collection that I´ve had for a few years now. Using a collection allows me to easily find papers that go well with each other, plus they bring stickers and other elements that make it easy to decorate the project.

Utilicé un paquete de papeles de We Are Memory Keepers, es una colección vieja que tengo hace varios años. Usar un paquete como este permite encontrar combinaciones perfectas además de traer pegatinas y más cositas para decorar el proyecto.

I'm thinking this is a great album for my daughter to complete, we just need to print 8 or 10 photos from our summer, some journaling, maybe a bit more embellishments and voilá!

It could also be a great gift for a not-so-crafty-friend who loves scrapbooking ;)

Creo que es un álbum perfecto para que mi hija lo termine, solo tenemos que imprimir 8 o 10 fotos de nuestro verano, un poco de journaling, y quizás algunos adornos más y ¡voilá!

También podría ser un excelente regalo para esa amiga no muy buena con las manualidades pero que le encanta el scrapbooking ;)

Motivation Tag with Distress Oxide Inks. Challenge/Reto

Today I bring a cute tag I made for a challenge, it seems that lately my motivation to craft is based on challenges. Today´s one I found it through my friend Aurora, she´s a great artist and her project on Instagram made want to try. The challenge was proposed by La central del Scrap.
Hoy traigo una linda etiqueta o tag que hice para un reto, parece que últimamente mi motivación para hacer manualidades son los retos. el de hoy lo encontré a través de mi amiga Aurora, es una artista y su proyecto en Instagram me hizo querer hacer uno. El reto lo propuso La Central del Scrap.

The requirements were easy, make a big tag using this color palette and thread.
Los requisitos son fáciles, hacer un Tag grande utilizando estos colores e hilos.

I love the result, but I even love more the process to create it, I started with a blank mind and not much inspiration, and only by selecting the colors and looking for my supplies many ideas started to come to my mind, and one idea led to another until I was happy with my project. Lesson learned, Picasso was right: "inspiration exists, but it has to find you working"
Me encanta el resultado, pero me gusta mucho más el proceso para crearlo, comencé con la mente en blanco y sin mucha inspiración, pero solo ir seleccionando los colores y buscando los materiales hizo que me comenzaran a venir ideas a la cabeza, y una idea me traía otra hasta que escogí la que me encantaba. Y qué aprendí de esto, que Picasso tiene razón: "la inspiración existe, pero tiene que encontrarte trabajando"

 So this is how I made it: trace the tag, cut it out. Smooch some ink and water.
Así es como la hice: trazar la tarjeta, cortarla. Frotar tinta y agua.

 Stamps some images. Die cut letters out of craft foam.
Estampar imágenes. Troquelar letras con goma eva.

 Add more colors trying to match the colors for the challenge. Sewing machine. Some glue, flowers, ribbon.
Agregar más color tratando de imitar los colores del reto. Máquina de coser. Pegamento, flores, cinta.

Cute tags using recycled clothing tags with tutorial

 I created these cute tags out of clothing tags. Some gesso, Brusho watercolors, stencil and texture paste. Added some embellishments and voila!
Hice estas etiquetas reciclando unas etiquetas de ropa. Un poco de gesso, acuarelas Brusho, plantilla y texture paste. Agregué algunos adornos y voila!

Pocket Album using the Fuse tool with video

A while ago my daughter had a slumber party with 3 friends and had an amazing time to celebrate her birthday. She asked me what we could do with the photos of that event, so I told her I would make an album for each one of them. I knew it was a lot of work but her smile was well worth it.
Hace un tiempo mi hija hizo una fiesta de pijamas con 3 amigas para celebrar su cumpleaños. Ella me preguntó qué podíamos hacer con las fotos de ese evento, y le dije que podía hacer un album para cada una de ellas. Sabía que era mucho trabajo pero su sonrisa lo vale todo.

To start my albums I just ordered some prints of my phone´s gallery, I picked 10 pictures of the event and added some journaling to each one, of course, 4 times each. I used the Cheerz App. The quality of the photos is not that good, but they are what were able to capture of that great adventure they had.
Para comenzar los álbumes hice un pedido directamente de la galería de fotos de mi teléfono, escogí 10 fotos del evento y le agregué títulos a cada una, y por supuesto, 4 de cada una. Utilicé la App Cheerz. La calidad de las fotos no es muy buena, pero son lo que pudimos capturar de la aventura que tuvieron.

I wanted to use materials that I already had, so I had to make sure I had enough for 4 albums. And I also wanted to use my Fuse tool. So I took some Becky Higgins Project Life pockets and cut them away, then fused some pockets and added photos and patterned papers.
Quería utilizar materiales que ya tuviera, así que me tuve que asegurar de tener suficiente para 4 álbumes. Y también quería utilizar la herramienta Fuse. Así que cogí las hojas plásticas del Project Life de Becky Higgins y las corté, les hice bolsillos con la Fuse, le metí las fotos y papeles decorados.

I made a video show you how I made them. It´s a bit long as I wanted to include most of the steps. I had a hard time shortening it because I had more than 90 minutes of footage.
Hice un video donde explico cómo los hice. Es un poco largo porque quería incluir todos los pasos. Se me hizo difícil acortarlo porque había filmado más de 90 minutos.
