Celebrations: stencil techniques Card

Hello everybody!

Today I bring another card I made to keep working with my certification with Altenew, AECP. They offer many classes at their website which are really nice, I have taken a few classes over last few years but now I decided to go with the full certification. I´m already towards the end of the first level.

Hoy traigo otra tarjeta que hice para seguir trabajando para mi certificación con Altenew, AECP. Ofrecen muchas clases en su sitio web que son realmente agradables, he tomado algunas clases en los últimos años, pero ahora decidí ir con la certificación completa. Ya estoy cerca del final del primer nivel.

The class for today’s card is called “Celebrations: stencil techniques” and its wonderful host is Laurel Beard. During this class we explored different ways to use stencils, which is really fun as it involves more “messy” stuff.

La clase para la tarjeta de hoy se llama " Celebrations: stencil techniques " y su maravillosa anfitriona es Laurel Beard. Durante esta clase exploramos diferentes formas de usar plantillas, lo cual es realmente divertido ya que involucra más cosas "desastrosas" jaja.

I fell in love with the technique of stamping with a stencil, it´s an arty style that in my opinion looks quite beautiful. I used some blue and green Altenew Inks, they react very well with water, making this technique work nicely. The stencil I used I created it with my Silhoutte Cameo. I had fun creating different panels, now I have many to keep making more cards.

Me enamoré de la técnica de estampar con una plantilla, es un estilo artístico que en mi opinión se ve bastante bonito. Utilicé algunas tintas Altenew azules y verdes, reaccionan muy bien con agua, haciendo que esta técnica funcione bien. La plantilla que utilicé la creé con mi Silhoutte Cameo. Me divertí creando paneles diferentes, ahora tengo muchos para seguir haciendo más tarjetas.

For today´s card I got one of the panels and die cut a window towards the bottom-right corner. I stamped the different layers of the cute flowers and leaves from “Painted Bloom” stamp set from Altenew and cut them out. Before assembling the card, I stamped a few leaves (Beautiful Day Stamp Set) that would finish decorating the window. I adhered some flowers flat on the card and others with dimension with fun foam, the panel is also raised with fun foam so there is some depth in the little window. I added some sparkle to the flowers with Ranger stickles. 

Para la tarjeta de hoy utilicé uno de los paneles que hice y troquelé una ventana hacia la esquina inferior derecha. Estampé las diferentes capas de las flores del set de sellos "Painted Bloom" de Altenew y las recorté. Antes de armar la tarjeta, sellé algunas hojas (Beautiful Day Stamp Set) que terminarían de decorar la ventana. Pegué algunas flores planas en la tarjeta y otras con dimensión con goma eva, el panel también está elevado para que haya algo de profundidad en la pequeña ventana. Agregué un poco de brillo a las flores con Ranger Stickles.

In order to complete my card, I white heat embossed my greeting on a strip of black cardstock (Painted Butterflies Stamp Set). I felt like the card needed another black element to tie the whole design in, so I added a black mat and black splatters.

Para completar mi tarjeta, puse el mensaje en una tira de cartulina negra con embossing de calor en color blanco (Painted Butterflies Stamp Set). Sentí que necesitaba un poco de otro elemento negro para unir todo el diseño, así que agregué salpicaduras y un borde negro.

Rainbow cards. Challenge/Reto: ¿Dónde termina el arcoiris? de Up&Scrap

 It´s been a while since I don't participate in a challenge... I was getting some supplies for my Silhouette Cameo at Up&Scrap and saw their challenge, I loved it so much that I wanted to be part of it right away.
Tengo tiempo sin participar en algún reto...cuando estaba comprando cositas para mi Silhouette Cameo en Up&Scrap y vi el reto de este mes, me gustó tanto que inmediatamente me puse en ello.

 The challenge for the month of June is rainbow colors and they called it: where does the rainbow end? (that´s the translation). And they used one of Laura Bassen´s projects as an example, it´s a card that I felt in love with when I saw it and I made one version a while ago, but I didn't take pictures of it. For my cards today I used a very different technique but with the same geometric feel and color scheme that Laura used.
El reto del mes de junio es colores del arco iris y lo llamaron: ¿Dónde termina el arco iris? (me encanta el nombre que le han puesto ;) Uno de los ejemplos que usaron es una tarjeta de Laura Bassen que me encantó, hace tiempo hice un tarjeta imitando esa pero no le hice fotos. Para mis tarjetas de hoy utilicé una técnica totalmente diferente pero con el mismo aire geométrico y gama de colores que usó Laura.

 I didn't´t make a video but I took some photos of the process that show how I made my cards. I made two because I was using texture paste and when you are mixing colors it´s almost impossible to do it with a small amount, so I decided to work on two at a time. At first I had my "real" project one and the "extra" one so I would´t waste texture paste, but I ended up with two gorgeous cards, yes!

No tengo video pero hice fotos que muestran como hice las tarjetas. Hice dos proyectos porque utilicé texture paste y es casi imposible utilizar poca cantidad cuando se están mezclando los colores, así que decidí trabajar en dos a la vez. Al principio tenía mi proyecto "real" y el "extra" para no desperdiciar texture paste, pero al final terminé con dos proyectos hermosos ¡toma!

 I mixed the texture paste with distress inks for each color and applied it with a spatula over the stencils I had fixed on my cardstock with painter´s tape.  I wanted to include 7 colors, so I measured the stencils and made some pencil marks on the side to have a rough idea of the size of my stripes.
Mezclé la texture paste con tintas distress para cada color y la fui aplicando con una espátula sobre el stencil que había pegado a la cartulina con cinta de carrocero o pintor. Como quería incluir los 7 colores medí los stencils e hice marcas a los lados para saber más o menos el grosor de cada color.

 I tried to make even stripes but without straight edges, kind of blending them a bit.
Intenté hacer franjas parejas pero sin un borde muy definido, un poco mezclado.

When I lifted the stencils I ended up with two beautiful panels, I wanted to leave them just like that, they were perfect like that. But I had to make a project, otherwise they´d end up in a pile of "beautiful backgrounds to be used later....or never"
Cuando levanté los stencils me encontré con dos paneles hermosos, los quería dejar tal cual, estaban perfectos así. Pero tenía que convertirlos en proyectos porque si no quedarían entre un montón llamado "fondos hermosos para usar luego...o nunca"

 To turn them into cards I trimmed the sides, I decided to make one a full panel that would cover the whole front of the card and another that would have a white border.
Para convertirlos en tarjetas corté los bordes, decidí hacer una que cubría todo el frente de la tarjeta y otra que tenía un borde blanco.

With these gorgeous panels it wasn't easy to cover any part of it, so I just added a bit of vellum to tone down some of the colors and place the sentiment on top. I thought this would be the best way to keep the color as the protagonists of my cards.
Con estos fondos tan lindos no fue fácil decidir cubrirlos, así que solo le puse papel cebolla en un área para bajar el tono de colores y colocar el mensaje por encima. Pensé que esta era la mejor manera de mantener los colores como protagonistas del proyecto.

 I used some tag dies to cut out the vellum and the I dry embossed some dots, I thought this would give some extra interest to that area as the dots become whiter and cover the colors behind a bit more. I also added some glimmer on top go each dot with Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen.
Utilicé unos troqueles de etiquetas para cortar el papel cebolla y luego le hice (dry embossing) relieves en seco de puntos, para darle más interés a esa área porque los puntos se vuelven más blancos y cubren un poco más al fondo colorido. También le puse un poco de brillo a cada punto con el rotulador Wink of Stella Clear glitter pen.

 For the sentiment I white heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock, I doubled the cardstock to give it a bit of dimension, not too much because I already had a lot behind it.
Para el mensaje simplemente hice embossing de calor con blanco sobre cartulina negra, y puse otra pieza de cartulina igual por debajo par darle un poco más de dimensión, pero muy poca ya que había demasiada textura por debajo.

Mixed Media Album with process video

After taking Ana Bondu´s workshops last February I wanted to keep creating, my hands were ready to get really inky (or painty, or gluey)
Después de tomar los talleres de Ana Bondu en febrero quedé con muchas ganas de seguir creando, mis estaban listas para llenarse de tinta, o pintura...o pegamento...

For a while I´ve been telling myself I need to use what I have, there are so many great new products and new collections, and I always fall in love with everything (I know I'm not alone on this :) but I can't keep buying stuff...So when I sat to make something, I found some old pictures I wanted scrap, and found some old mini album kits, that I´ve had for around 10 years waiting to the "perfect" occasion to use them. So the decision was made, some pictures of my kiddos playing with their cousins and a kit with different materials for the album pages and rings.
Then I worked with what I had on hand, actually what I had on my desk from my previous projects.
I worked over several days as I had little time, but I was able to make a video to show the process of how I work.
Llevo ya tiempo diciéndome a mi misma que tengo que usar los materiales que tengo, hay tantos productos nuevos y colecciones, y siempre me enamoro de todas (sé que no estoy sola en esto :) pero no puedo seguir comprando y comprando. Así que cuando me senté a crear algo, encontré algunas fotos que había impreso para scrapear, y también encontré unos kits de mini albums que he tenidos guardados durante unos 10 años esperando el momento "perfecto" para usarlos. Así que la decisión estuvo fácil, las fotos de mis peques jugando con sus primos y el kit con páginas de diferentes materiales y anillos para hacer un álbum.
Luego trabajé con lo que tenía a la mano, realmente con lo que tenía en mi mesa de proyectos anteriores. Trabajé durante varios días porque no tenía mucho tiempo, pero pude ir grabando videos para poder mostrar el proceso de cómo trabajo.

Ana Bondu Workshop in Madrid

 I had the pleasure of attending Ana Bondu´s workshops at Komola Krafts in Madrid. It was a weekend full of techniques, colors, paints, inks, wonderful people and lots of fun.
Tuve el placer de asistir a los talleres de Ana Bondu en Komola Krafts, en Madrid. Fue un fin de semana lleno de técnicas, colores, pinturas, tintas, gente maravillosa y mucha diversión.

Ana demonstrated different ways of using the Gelli Plate with paints and inks, masks and textured materials. Then we worked with Brushos and different techniques on how to get the most out of them. We spent the whole day on Saturday trying everything out, so we made hundreds of gorgeous backgrounds.
Ana hizo demostraciones de diferentes formas de usar la Gelli Plate con pinturas, tintas, stencils, y materiales con texturas. Luego trabajamos con Brushos y diferentes técnicas para sacarles el mejor provecho. Pasamos el sábado entero probando todo, así que hicimos cientos de fondos espectaculares.

On Sunday we worked on a beautiful book made from scratch, we put in practice many of the techniques we worked on the previous day plus a few more ideas she gave us on the way.
El domingo trabajamos en un libro que hicimos desde cero, pusimos en práctica muchas de las técnicas que habíamos trabajado el día anterior más unas ideas que ella nos fue dando durante el día.

The girls at Komola were wonderful, everything was perfectly set for us to work comfortably and in a cosy environment, and with delicious meals and snacks...and of course coffee at all times. Thank you girls!
Las chicas de Komola fueron maravillosas, todo estuvo preparado perfectamente para trabajar cómodas y en un ambiente muy agradable, y con comidas y meriendas muy ricas...y por supuesto, cafecito a toda hora ¡Gracias chicas!
